Volleyball Photography: Fast, Clean Edits with Presets

Indoor volleyball is fast, tightly framed and shot in the same tricky gym lighting as basketball. Here's how to shoot and edit it efficiently.

Shooting

  • Shutter speed 1/1000 or faster to freeze spikes and blocks
  • Shoot from the end line or elevated for clean angles
  • Track the setter to anticipate the attack
  • Keep ISO controlled; shoot RAW for editing latitude

Editing

Correct the gym color cast, lift shadows, control highlights on bright jerseys and the court. A bright, clean preset works best here — Don Soffer keeps big convention-center courts feeling airy, and Glimmer gives punch when the lighting is good.

Edit one frame, then copy settings to the full gallery. See the gym lighting guide for the color-cast fix.
